Ozzy Osbourne, born in 1948, is an English singer, songwriter, and media personality known as the “Prince of Darkness.” He gained fame as Black Sabbath’s lead vocalist from 1968, contributing to their debut album in 1970 through Never Say Die! in 1978. Black Sabbath, pivotal in shaping heavy metal, released acclaimed albums like Paranoid and Master of Reality. Fired from the band in 1979 due to substance abuse, Osbourne launched a successful solo career with Blizzard of Ozz in 1980. He has released 13 solo albums, with the first seven earning multi-platinum status in the US. Osbourne reunited with Black Sabbath multiple times, including for their final album 13 (2013) and a farewell tour ending in 2017. He has sold over 100 million albums, combining solo and Black Sabbath works. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Black Sabbath (2006) and as a solo artist (2024), he also joined the UK Music Hall of Fame (2005). Osbourne starred in MTV’s The Osbournes and co-stars in Ozzy & Jack’s World Detour with his children. He received the Global Icon Award (2014) and the Ivor Novello Award for Lifetime Achievement (2015).
